
CNS Service Engineer - F/M
Created in 2009, ESSP is a young and dynamic company, a pan European service provider, certified by EASA (the European Union Aviation Safety Agency) to deliver safety-critical services. Our mission is to operate and provide Communication, Navigation and Surveillance (CNS) services, among which, the main one is, the EGNOS service (the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service), on behalf of the EUSPA (the European Agency for Space).

If you have 3 years of experience in aeronautical communications, with special focus in data link (DLS) and/or satellite technologies (SATCOM/Iris ESA Program), then this position is for you!
By joining us, you will support ESSP technical activities focused on Service Provision in the on-going projects (i.e.: Satellite Communications/Iris) and activities linked toCNS (Communication Navigation Surveillance) Services.
Missions
- Technical support in different activities and deliveries related to CNS Services projects (e.g. data link communications), mainly to:
- Contribution to technical arcquitecture definition;
- Contribution to service modelling and concept of operations characterization based on applicable regulatory framework and standards;
- Contribution to technical studies and assessments of different technologies (SATCOM/Iris European Space Agency programme,VHF DataLink Mode 2 (VDLm2)), state of the art for CNS;
- Service provision requirements definition;
- Contribution to service validation test campaign.
- Participation in technical meetings related to CNS projects;
- Participation/Contribution to international fora related to CNS (i.e: Eurocontrol, SESAR, etc.);
- Contribution to reporting for CNS projects highlighting the current status of activities, next steps, issues/risks identified;
- Technical contribution in the preparation of potential tenders related to CNS areas in line with ESSP business strategy.
PROFILE
- Relevant knowledge in CNS/ATM technologies, especially focused on datalink technologies (ACARS: Aircraft Communication Addressing and Reporting System, VDL Mode 2, SatCom, Aeronautical Telecommunication Network such as ATN/OSI, ATN IPS)
- Good understanding of European regulation (such as, but not limited to, Single European Sky regulatory framework and European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) regulation) as well as applicable standards (ICAO, EUROCAE, RTCA, ARINC…)
- Good understanding of datalink communication services supporting ACARS-based applications, ATN-B1, ATS-B2 & ATS-B3
- Good capacity of analysis, synthesis and reporting
- Team player spirit
- Good Level of English (B2) - CEFRL
- Spanish (desirable)
- Ability to assume responsibilities
- Proactiveness/initiative
Other preferable skills:
- Understanding of satellite-based controller/pilot datalink supporting air traffic management communications
- Good understanding of ICAO Aviation System Block Upgrade and Global Air Navigation Plan
- Knowledge of datalink avionics
- Deep understanding of datalink communication services supporting ACARS-based applications, ATN-B1, ATS-B2 & ATS-B3
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Language: English (B2 – C1) – CEFR and Spanish (desirable)
Engineering degree or equivalent
Minimum 6 years of experience in aeronautical communications, with especial focus in data link (DLS) services and applications, and/or satellite technologies (SATCOM/IRIS ESA Program).
Experience in international and multi-stakeholder projects
Available for regular travels mainly in Europe
