ESSP, as EGNOS SERVICE PROVIDER, and the Oslo Police District of the Norwegian National Police Air Support Unit, have recently signed an EGNOS Working Agreement (EWA), as a key step for the implementation of EGNOS-based approach procedures in Norway. This agreement is the second one with an organization which is not an Air Navigation Service Provider, and has been defined in full cooperation with both the operator and the Norwegian Civil Aviation Authority.

In the frame of its Corporate Social Responsibility Policy and in this particular context of sanitary crisis, ESSP has signed up an agreement with Cruz Roja and La Croix Rouge Française in October 2020, to make a financial donation to support this important entity in this difficult year for thousands of families given the declared pandemic.

This year, the EGNOS meeting has become virtual, and its online edition is scheduled for December 8 from 14.00 to 15.30 within the EUROPEAN SPACE WEEK.

The EU Space Programme is evolving and so are the needs and requirements of its user community. The 3rd edition of the User Consultation Platform (UCP) will be held on 1-2 December 2020 as part of the preparatory phase of the 2020 European Space Week. The Consultation is open to user communities, industries, service providers and R&D leveraging space for the creation of applications, businesses, and innovation

Although the outbreak of the Global Health crisis has slowed down or halted projects in all sectors, the process of signing EGNOS Working Agreements in many European airports has continued as planned. In the last five months, 4 new European organizations have settled EGNOS Working Agreements (EWAs) as a first step towards implementing EGNOS-based operations in the near future.

Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) such as Galileo or GPS are made up of 24 to 30 satellites orbiting in medium Earth orbit (regularly at around 20,000 km altitude) on three orbital spheres. Thanks to very precise onboard clocks, each satellite delivers timing information that is used by receivers on the ground to calculate positioning information worldwide. As individual car drivers, we are accustomed to being guided on our car journeys, but this positioning information is also used for mobility in the broadest sense, whatever the means of transportation, to help position and navigate on our trips.
