
EGNOS Ground Stations Engineer (RIMS & NLES) - F/M
Created in 2009, ESSP is a young and dynamic company, a pan European service provider, certified by EASA (the European Union Aviation Safety Agency) to deliver safety-critical services. Our mission is to operate and provide Communication, Navigation and Surveillance (CNS) services, among which, the main one is, the EGNOS service (the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service), on behalf of the EUSPA (the European Agency for Space).

We are looking for a EGNOS Ground Stations Engineer who will be in charge of technical expertise activities related to the RIMS (Ranging and Integrity Monitoring Station) and NLES (Navigation Land Earth Stations) subsystems within ESSP. For these activities, we are looking for someone with at least 5 years’ experience in Space or Aeronautical domain, with a very good level of English (minimum B2).
You will be responsible for:
- Part of the maintenance activities to be carried out on RIMS and NLES EGNOS V2 (EV2) and EGNOS V3 (EV3) sites: replacement of equipment, cables, Radio Frequency (RF) measurements, GNSS measurements, masking measurements around GNSS antennas, moving or dismantling equipment.
- Part of the deployment of next generations of RIMS and NLES EV2 and EV3 on existing or new sites, by being a technical referent of the activity: writing technical notes, installation of equipment on site (ex.: during the move of certain RIMS stations or the installation of new RIMS EV2 and EV3 designs).
- Part of the operation of the various RIMS and NLES test platforms available at ESSP (Assembly, Integration and Verification Platform).
Participate in the:
- Detection and analysis of failure and/or abnormal events on RIMS & NLES EV2 and EV3 subsystems,
- Synthesis of RIMS & NLES EV2 and EV3 events (for internal and customer reporting),
- Instruction and analysis of the observation reports raised on RIMS & NLES EV2 and EV3 subsystems and follow-up of their correction/qualification, in accordance with the anomaly management process, including exchanges with the industry in charge of maintenance, as well as with the client if necessary,
- Analysis of RIMS & NLES EV2 and EV3 data quality (including contingency requirements with experts),
Support to the Operations team:
- For writing or technical maintenance of RIMS & NLES EV2 and EV3 operational and maintenance procedures (analysis of update needs, realization and validation of updates),
- Initial on-site training for new RIMS & NLES EV2 and EV3 sites called « Hosting Entities »,
- Technical validation of training materials for RIMS & NLES EV2 and EV3 « Hosting Entities »,
- Coordinate RIMS & NLES EV2 and EV3 activities with the Site Team Manager,
- Planning EGNOS Operations in relation to the various RIMS & NLES EV2 and EV3 sub-systems.
Profile:
Generic Skills:
- Very good technical knowledge of GNSS, SBAS and EGNOS systems in particular
- Good knowledge of space and aeronautical systems operations in general
- Very good knowledge of radio frequency technologies
- Very good knowledge of signal processing applied to GNSS (interference, multipath)
- Very good knowledge of field measurement tools (theodolite, spectrum analyzer)
- Desired knowledge of RIMS and NLES data performance monitoring tools: Monalysa, RIMS Tool, or equivalent
- Strong autonomy
- Ability to assume responsibilities
- Initiative spirit
- Synthesis skills
- Very good level of English (B2-C1) – CEFR
Job requirements:
- Engineering degree in Space Engineering or equivalent
- Available for regular travels mainly in Europe
- Subject to constraints of minimum presence during normal vacation periods (July/August, Christmas, February, Easter)
- Subject to on-call duty during weekends and bank holidays (nights not concerned)
