
Operations & Evolutions Engineer - (F/M)
Created in 2009, ESSP is a young and dynamic company, a pan European service provider, certified by EASA (the European Union Aviation Safety Agency) to deliver safety-critical services. Our mission is to operate and provide Communication, Navigation and Surveillance (CNS) services, among which, the main one is, the EGNOS service (the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service), on behalf of the EUSPA (the European Agency for Space).

We are looking for an Operations & Evolutions Engineer who will contribute to the management of EGNOS V2 operations. She/He is responsible for monitoring the evolution of EGNOS operations from EGNOS V2 to EGNOS V3.
For these activities, we are looking for an engineer (or equivalent degree) with at least 1 to 5 years of experience in space or aeronautic domain, an experience in an international environment (Europe) and a very good level of English (minimum B2).
Your main responsibilities/activities will be:
Operations Management:
- Produce and validate the EGNOS Joint Operations Schedule (JOS), in collaboration with colleagues in the Operations team, within the constraints imposed by the EGNOS Operations planning process, and in collaboration with the engineering teams. This includes preventive maintenance tasks, network intervention, deployment of new configurations or versions of the system, or any other operation;
- Operational analysis (impact on operations, compliance with processes, etc.) of all modifications requested for the EGNOS system and its operations, in particular by the engineering team. This includes in particular operational bypasses, or modifications and requalifications to the system, network and sites. In collaboration with the Engineering team, She/He is responsible for their operational implementation;
- Analyse potential deviations by MCC (Mission Control Centre) operators and EGNOS maintainers, in relation with MCC managers;
- Support for the Operations Coordination Team Manager and the Head of Operations in preparing and participating in bi-monthly Operations Management Meetings (OMM), and responsible for following up the actions;
- Represent the Operations team on the internal Operations Management Board (OMB), in collaboration with colleagues from the Operations team, and handling any operational conflicts or actions raised;
- Monitor and control the proper execution of the Joint Operations Schedule (JOS) on a daily basis, and provide support to the MCC Operators with regard to the execution of the JOS.
- Functional administration of the Tools for Operations Management (TOM) and the procedures distribution tool (DOME), including business monitoring of the TMA and changes to the tool, expression of new requirements, acceptance of new versions, and updating of the user manual for MCC operators;
- Write deployment plans for new versions of the EGNOS system, detailing the deployment strategy and operational activities, constraints, prerequisites, configuration requirements and roll-back strategy.
- Direct participation in supervision and control operations as Operator of the "EGNOS-TEST" validation system from the Test Control Centre (TCC).
Evolutions’ follow-up:
ESSP is currently preparing the major upgrade of the EGNOS system from V2 to V3. As part of this major project for the ESSP, you will be responsible for:
- Monitoring the development of the V3 system by industry, in particular reviewing documents relating to the scope of operations and taking part in reviews; she/he represents the ESSP operations section during these reviews;
- A summary of this monitoring in an ad hoc document, both internally at ESSP and for the EUSPA agency in charge of the programme: operational issues identified, points to watch, risks, preparatory activities or tools required, etc;
- The overall plan for the transition of the ESSP from V2 to V3, detailing all the activities and stages of this project, with the support of all the ESSP teams also involved;
- Preparing the Operations team for this V3 upgrade ( getting familiar with the new tools, implementing new rules and methods, managing the transition).
Support to the team:
- You can be required to participate in a more or less significant way, or to ensure the back-up of certain operational tasks for which his/her colleagues are responsible, such as, preparing and chairing the weekly Operations Control Board (OCB), or software configuration management-
Project contributions and evolution:
- In the frame of answers to call for tenders and projects execution (other than EGNOS operations), participate or support to the Operations Coordination Team Manager on topics requiring operational expertise.
- Participate to the implementation of operations, and contribution to the operations of future systems operated by ESSP.
- On a mid-term basis, participate to the preparation for the major evolution of the system to V3 (getting familiar with the new tools, setting up new rules and methods, managing the transition).
- Participate in communication actions around the team's activity as needed.

Job Specifications:
- Available for punctual travels mainly in Europe
- Subject to constraints of minimum presence during normal vacation periods (July/August, Christmas, February, Easter).
