Software Development Engineer - (F/M)


Created in 2009, ESSP is a young and dynamic company, a pan European service provider, certified by EASA (the European Union Aviation Safety Agency) to deliver safety-critical services. Our mission is to operate and provide Communication, Navigation and Surveillance (CNS) services, among which, the main one is, the EGNOS service (the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service), on behalf of the EUSPA (the European Agency for Space).

We are looking for a CPF (Central Processing Facility) & Software Developer who will be in charge of providing the Engineering team with the technical expertise relating to the CPF (Central Processing Facility) subsystem and the development and maintenance of software tools that monitor the EGNOS system. For these activities, we are looking for someone with at least 3 years’ experience in software development or engineering, with a very good level of English (minimum B2).

Your main responsibilities/activities will be:

Regarding the CPF technical expertise activity, is responsible for:
- The detection and analysis of any failure and/or abnormal event on the CPF subsystem (writing the corresponding “Observation Report”) and monitoring its correction and qualification, as well as developing an “Operational Workaround.”
- The summary of CPF events for monthly reports due to the customer, including the system performance report.
- Providing expert support on CPF algorithms to the Performance team and the System team.
- Generating new PRN (Pseudo Range Number) mask configurations.
- Carrying out activities on the V2 and V3 test platforms, as well as detecting and analyzing associated failures.
- Providing internal support to the SOU (System Operations Unit) teams and external support to the MCCs (Monitoring & Control Centers) for CPF operations, maintenance, and configuration management, as well as support on test platforms to the engineering department.
- Providing support to the SOU/Operations team for updating CPF operational and maintenance procedures, as well as for analyzing training needs and validating training materials for CPF procedures.
- Performing part of the on-site CPF maintenance for which ESSP is responsible, as well as participating in the maintenance of test platforms.
- Reviewing the CPF/System and test platforms documentation during the development of new versions of EGNOS (V2 and V3).

Regarding software development activities:

She/He contributes to:
- Maintaining software components for monitoring EGNOS V2 subsystems.
- Developing new software, particularly for EGNOS V3.
- Maintaining EGNOS maintenance tools.
- Developing and maintaining the LTT (Light Training Tool) application for training EGNOS V3 operators._
- Maintaining various CPF and CCF configuration and analysis tools (including PRN_mask_tool).
- Writing development-related documents in accordance with the ESSP software development process.

Regarding potential diversification activities:

She/He may participate in diversification activities:
- By contributing to technical proposals.
- By participating as temporary support in activities similar to those described above in the context of CPF expertise and test platforms, for customers implementing systems across all CNS (Communication Navigation Surveillance) activities as a service provider.

- Very good knowledge of script development (Bash, Awk, Linux commands, etc.)
- Proficiency in JavaScript/HTML, Python, Tcl, C/C++
- Knowledge of TCP/IP network protocols and SSL, TLS, SFTP security protocols
- Experience with an operational system and/or time metric monitoring system would be appreciated.

Job Specifications:

- She/He may be subjected to on-call duty during weekends and bank holidays, as well as occasionally 24 hours a day, in accordance with the ESSP system in force.
- Available for punctual travels mainly in Europe
- Subject to constraints of minimum presence during normal vacation periods (July/August, Christmas, February, Easter).
- Experience in projects in an international context (European)
- Engineering degree or master's degree in a scientific field
