Another successful edition of the EGNOS Annual Workshop took place in Athens past October 3 & 4.

Two days fully committed to EGNOS, its performance on the different services, roadmaps, market adoption and its present and future applications.

The event was full of inspiring presentations. Many stakeholders had the opportunity to explain EGNOS use in Aviation, Rail, Maritime, Surveying and Agriculture domains....even Drones!.  There were speakers from significant companies, such as Easyjet, Alberding, Topcon, Swiss (among others) that brought real- life examples of EGNOS applications. The European Institutions were represented by the European Commission, the European GNSS Agency, EUROCONTROL and EASA.  Other Associations related to the Aviation field also gave their view on EGNOS, like CANSO and AOPA - the  Aircrafts Owners and Pilots Association.

Two non-European entities as KARI, from Korea, and the African ASECNA, gave interesting presentations regarding the status of SBAS outside Europe.

At the end of Day 1, there was an EGNOS Awards Ceremony to recognize the main actors involved in the adoption of EGNOS within the Aviation field:  ANSPs signing EGNOS Working Agreements (EWA) and/ or publishing EGNOS-based flight procedures at their airports. Representatives from the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA), the German DFS, and other ANSPs received their award during the emotive ceremony.

And finally, the EGNOS family had the chance to meet together during the evening, while enjoying a toast at the Workshop Social Event just in front of the Acropolis.
