ESSP and Härjedalen Kommun Airport have signed an EGNOS Working Agreement
The agreement will enable the publication of EGNOS-based approach procedures in this Swedish airport
EGNOS Service Provider, ESSP, and Härjedalen Kommun Airport have recently signed an EGNOS Working Agreement (EWA), as a key step for the implementation of EGNOS-based approach procedures (LPV procedures) in this airport.
The agreement was signed on the 29th of August 2018, and it establishes the operational and legal framework to use the EGNOS Safety-of-Life Service as a navigation aid between the EGNOS Service Provider – ESSP - and the Airport / Navigation entity willing to use this service.
This agreement is framed into the EU Space Programme actions to get the highest security rates and accuracy systems in aviation through Satellite Based Navigation Protocol.
This agreement reinforces the use ofEGNOS in the Scandinavian area, wheretwelve agreements have already been signed: one in Norway, seven in Sweden and four in Denmark, but this is just the beginning, as more airports are also working to obtain the EGNOS Working Agreement (EWA) to implement GNSS-based approach procedures soon.
