ESSP and MIELEC APT sign an EGNOS Working Agreement

EGNOS Service Provider, ESSP, and Mielec APT, have recently signed an EGNOS Working Agreement (EWA), as a key step for the implementation of EGNOS-based approach procedures (LPV procedures) in this airport.

The agreement was signed on the 27th of April 2018 by Wojciech Bugajski, President at Mielec APT and Thierry Racaud ESSP CEO.

The signature of an EGNOS Working Agreement, establishes the operational and legal framework to use the EGNOS Safety-of-Life Service as a navigation aid between the EGNOS Service Provider – ESSP - and the Airport / Navigation entity willing to use this service.

Thierry Racaud, ESSP CEO said: “Poland has been one of the first to sign an EWA (EGNOS Working Agreement) back in 2013, and we are glad to see that this country is one of the most active in the Eastern Europe region for the adoption of EGNOS. We welcome MIELEC airport and look forward to cooperating in increasing safety and accessibility to this major general aviation and training platform.”

Wojciech Bugajski, President from Mielec airport said: “Mielec Airport is one of the biggest General Aviation airport in Poland. Majority of operations are training flights performed by flying schools located at Mielec plus test flights conducted by local aircraft manufacturers. So, introduction of APV approaches based on EGNOS will at first improve flight safety but also will help local training organisations to widen their training capabilities.”
