A major milestone was reached on 31 May with the signature of a 7-year contract with Airbus for the support to EGNOS v3 development. Version v3 will consist in a complete overhaul of the EGNOS ground segment. It will be the first SBAS implementing dual frequency and multi-constellation, augmenting both GPS and Galileo satellites.

The first EGNOS v3 release will be in operations by 2023, replacing the current EGNOS v2 whose open service was declared in 2009. In addition to the airspace users, EGNOS v3 will also better support new categories of users as from the maritime sector.

ESSP will support system engineering activities, preparation of the coordination with the future EGNOS v3 service provider, security risk analysis and security of operations.
