Today, RPAS operations are usually limited to segregated airspace or visual line of sight conditions, and operators and manufacturers rarely integrate certified avionics on-board. However, for RPAS to operate autonomously with other airspace users in a shared airspace volume, certified avionic equipment will probably be needed. This represents a great opportunity for GNSS augmented services, like EGNOS.

The increase of air traffic in the skies across Europe is the challenge of ensuring that its airports present, at all times, the highest security with respect to its air accessibility. The BLUEGNSS project has applied Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) to eleven airports in the Southeastern Mediterranean region in order to increase safety and airport accessibility, according to the European Commission’s Community Research and Development Information Service (CORDIS).

An extensive delegation of media groups from Korea visited ESSP-SAS headquarters in Toulouse last May 30th to know first-hand how EGNOS works from space, and how its implementation affects us on a day-to-day basis.

A major milestone was reached on 31 May with the signature of a 7-year contract with Airbus for the support to EGNOS v3 development.

The World ATM Congress 2018 has come to an end. During three exciting days ESSP and the European GNSS Agency worked together in order to promote the EGNOS benefits.

Once again, ESSP will be supporting the European GNSS Agency (GSA) in promoting EGNOS services among Aviation stakeholders during the World ATM Congress, that will take place in Madrid next March 6-8.
