The 15 years of EGNOS Open Service (OS) highlights Europe’s leadership in building a robust satellite navigation system that has also become a worldwide reference to other SBAS (Satellite-Based Augmentation System) systems around the world. 

The new version of the Service Definition Document (SDD) for the EGNOS Data Access Service (EDAS) has been just released. In this latest version, the SDD has been updated to reflect the service’s latest changes, including the inclusion of Iceland as an EGNOS participant member. Additionally, the SDD captures the GSA’s transition to the European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA) and provides up-to-date information on the EDAS performances.

The EGNOS Workshop is the opportunity to learn about the evolution of EGNOS services and connect with Europe’s Satellite Based Augmentation System (SBAS) users.

On the 18th of February 2021, ENAC, the French Civil Aviation University, acknowledged as one of the major training organizations in the aeronautics and air transport field in Europe, and ESSP, European Satellite Service Provider, the European SBAS operator and service provider (EGNOS), consolidated their cooperation by signing a partnership agreement with the objective to make the promotion of European Global Navigation Satellite System (EGNSS) in general, and EGNOS in particular

Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) such as Galileo or GPS are made up of 24 to 30 satellites orbiting in medium Earth orbit (regularly at around 20,000 km altitude) on three orbital spheres. Thanks to very precise onboard clocks, each satellite delivers timing information that is used by receivers on the ground to calculate positioning information worldwide. As individual car drivers, we are accustomed to being guided on our car journeys, but this positioning information is also used for mobility in the broadest sense, whatever the means of transportation, to help position and navigate on our trips.

The agreement will enable the publication of EGNOS-based approach procedures in these Czechoslovak airports
